Minimalist Modern Nursery Design Reveal - by LITTLE CROWN INTERIORS

Every now and again, I get to work on a nursery design that’s a bit out of the box. My most recent design was for a client who wanted her nursery to match her home and lifestyle—modern and minimalist with a twist. This was a fun one! Perhaps the best part of this nursery was that I finally got to use the Vetro Crib by Nursery Works—a piece I’ve been admiring since its debut.

Even though we wanted the room to be bright and modern, it was also important to use some color. Since the walls were painted white, we decided to go with a vibrant blue wall near the entry of the room. The blue hue also serves as the perfect backdrop so the Tree Bookcase really pops. I also suggested using a plant in the space, which always brings warmth and color to any nursery. I chose a solid and heavy planter so the tree cannot be knocked over.

It was also important to my client to include the baby’s name as a statement piece in the room. I chose some big and bold art canvases by Avalisa in custom colors to match the room. It’s the first thing you see when you walk into the space.

The textiles in this space are minimal as well, and we opted to use only a crib sheet for the crib. I chose the Finn Crib Sheet from Oilo Studio for its modern pattern and rich charcoal color. Then I threw in some fun pillows (which, of course, are only in the crib for the photo shoot).

A very important part of this design was the lime green Eames Elephant—my client knew she wanted this right from the start! It really does add whimsy and color to the space and can be used as a toy when baby is older.

We added some bright white wall shelves as well and styled them with lots of white decor to keep the room feeling fresh and added a pop of color with the zebra artwork. There are also storage boxes for those extra little things that always need to be kept near the changing table.

Lastly, we topped off this modern nursery with a custom made acrylic cradle—a true art piece! We used the same fabric as the crib sheet to make a cradle sheet and changing pad cover as well.

This nursery was so fun to be a part of, and I loved the experience of working on something new and different. It just goes to show that stepping outside the box with your nursery design can be worth the risk!
