That cute little guy you see there is Welles. He's two years old and the cutest, happiest boy you'll ever meet! Welles was born with Down Syndrome. A third chromosome if you will, that inhibits his growth and intelligence level. He's got the most amazing family and a mom who spends all her time spreading awareness on what she calls "Up Syndrome," since she believes there is nothing down about down syndrome. His mom, Oakley shares her journey at Nothing Down About It. You can also read the touching story about the day her husband and her found out Welles had Down Syndrome here.
Welles mom just had a new baby so it was time to shuffle the rooms around. So when we started, the room was primarily empty.
Since cute Welles is Down Syndrome he would be in a crib until he was almost five, so he wouldn't roam the house without parental supervision. And since his new baby brother would be taking over his crib shortly, it was time to find him something that would last for years to come. Thus the Stokke Sleepi crib.
This crib is amazing because it starts as a bassinet, then grows to a crib, before turning into a toddler bed then junior bed. Plus the somewhat enclosed edges made his mom feel he would be safer as he transitioned to the bigger sizes.
THE DESIGN BOARD:
Next up was the design board. Welles is a very happy boy that radiates light and makes people smile wherever he goes so his mom wanted a color palette that reflected his bright personality.
We love how the room turned out. It's playful and fun just like Welles!
