When creating a woodland nursery, opt for a neutral color palette inspired by nature. Think soft greens, browns, and creams to create a calming and soothing environment for your baby.
Invest in woodland-themed bedding, like anything from our new Oilo™ Studio Woodland Nursery Bedding collection. It could feature adorable forest creatures like foxes, hares, squirrels, and birds. This will tie the room together and provide a cozy place for your little one to rest and sleep.
Enhance the walls of the nursery with fine art featuring woodland animals. You could choose from our Nursery Wall Fine Art collection, which includes hand-drawn art prints of foxes and hares, all artisan-crafted, framed, and ready-to-hang. This will add a whimsical touch to the room.
Make sure to include a comfortable recliner in the nursery for those late-night feedings and snuggles. A cozy chair will not only provide a comfortable spot for you but also create a bonding space for you and your baby. Oilo's Nursery Recliners are handcrafted in the USA by skilled craftsmen. Our Zoey traditional glider in "woven white" fabric, pairs beautifully with the wood of this solid eucalyptus wood convertible crib, surrounded by the peaceful overhang of this canopy by Moi Mili.
When it comes to creating the perfect ambiance for your baby's nursery, some soft lighting from lamps can make all the difference. Not only does it provide a soothing and calming atmosphere for your little one, but it also adds a touch of warmth and coziness to the room. Like this floor lamp from Crate and Barrel, or a table lamp like this one from West Elm.
By following these woodland nursery ideas, you can create a charming woodland nursery that will be a magical space for your little one to grow and thrive in. Embrace the beauty of nature and create a nurturing environment that will be cherished for years to come.

This soft, muted shade of pink exudes a sense of tranquility and warmth, creating the perfect ambiance for your little one to rest and play. With its vintage charm and timeless appeal, a dusty rose nursery is the ultimate choice for parents who want to create a space that is both stylish and comforting.
No nursery is complete without the perfect furniture pieces. To achieve a truly enchanting dusty rose nursery, opt for vintage-inspired furniture. A natural wood crib, or a toddler bed, such as Little Colorado’s Traditional Toddler Bed made with Birch plywood, topped with a flowing organic cotton canopy like this Smallable Nobodinoz Vera Organic Cotton Bed Canopy in ‘Willow Green’, create a whimsical and dreamy atmosphere. Above your adorable toddler bed, place this Ashland wall shelf in ‘Beige’ from Michaels to store books or decorative pieces. Pair the bed with a vintage dresser where you can store your child’s cozy bedding.
Soft muslin bedding is not only gentle on your little one's delicate skin but also adds a luxurious touch to the nursery. Opt for dainty floral bedding with intricate floral patterns, like this Oilo Studio Dainty Floral nursery bedding. Oilo's new Fable Collection nursery bedding collections are organically crafted from 100% cotton muslin, woven with the utmost care using the finest yarn. This results in a wonderfully textured fabric that’s exquisitely soft to the touch and remarkably lightweight, all while maintaining its lasting strength. The softness and breathability of organic cotton muslin will ensure your child's comfort while adding an elegant touch to the overall aesthetic.
The wall in your nursery is an essential element and a dusty rose color palette calls for something truly special. Start by choosing the correct colors for your walls, this Sandberg wallpaper in ‘Maskrosen, Pink’ is perfect for your Dusty Rose nursery. Next, consider hanging our exclusive collection of artisan-crafted hand-drawn textured art prints, like this dreamy hand-drawn fine art Hare in a white gold colored frame, available only at Oilo™ Studio, evoking a sense of nostalgia and adding a touch of whimsy to the space. These delicate and charming drawings will capture your child's imagination and create a captivating focal point in the room. In addition, be sure to include Smallable’s OyOy Mini Rattan Acorn Mirror with its unique and adorable shape and your Dusty Rose nursery will feel perfectly delightful.
A nursery is a place where your little one will spend countless hours crawling, playing, and exploring. To create a cozy and inviting atmosphere, choose a charming rug in a complementary color and pattern. Opt for a soft texture that will provide comfort underfoot and add a touch of luxury to the space. Birch Lane’s Dash and Albert Swedish Handmade Cotton Rug in ‘Blue and Ivory’ is an excellent rug that will not only tie the room together but also create a warm and inviting environment for your child to enjoy.
As a parent, you know that a comfortable nursery recliner is a must-have for those long nights and early mornings. Look for plush cushions and a smooth gliding motion, such as our Flynn Gliding Swivel Nursery Recliner in ‘Sheepskin Cloud,’ allowing you to soothe your little one to sleep in style and comfort. Compliment the recliner with an accent pillow like our Oilo™ Studio faux mohair pillows. You can also include this graceful Serena & Lily Larkspur Floor Lamp in ‘White Wave’ next to your cozy recliner, and you’ll create a cozy nook for late-night feedings and storytime.
Designing a dusty rose nursery is a labor of love that will create a haven for your little one to grow and thrive. By incorporating vintage furniture, soft bedding, charming wall art, a cozy rug, and a comfortable recliner, you can create a space that is both elegant and inviting. Embrace the timeless beauty of dusty rose and watch as your nursery becomes a sanctuary of style and serenity.

Organic modern design not only creates a visually appealing space but also promotes a sense of well-being. By bringing nature indoors, it helps to create a calm and peaceful environment that is both functional and beautiful. This lovely home was the perfect choice to use for an organic modern interior design photoshoot. Check out @FARAHPRO on her Instagram for more information about her home.

In addition, our Flynn Swivel Nursery Recliners in ‘Sheepskin Linen’ have a cozy material that not only brings comfort but invites the elements of nature into the home. Relax in your 'Serena & Lily' Positano Linen pajamas in ‘white’ in our gorgeous Drew Glider in ‘Tweed Snow Boucle’ near a window and all of the natural sunlight will be intensified.
Plants are an essential element of organic modern interior design. They not only add a pop of color but also purify the air and create a sense of tranquility. Choose low-maintenance plants like succulents or ferns to bring life to your space. Place a plant on natural wood side table from 'Joss and Main' to combine color, natural materials, and plants as parts of your organic modern design.
Embrace sustainable practices in your organic modern design by choosing eco-friendly materials and furniture. Look for products that are made from recycled or renewable materials. Opt for energy-efficient lighting and appliances to reduce your carbon footprint.
By following these five ways, you can achieve a beautiful and harmonious organic modern interior design. Embrace nature, create a sustainable space, and enjoy the benefits of a calming and inviting home.

]]>SLEEP: it's what every parent wants, but cannot seem to get enough of!
Anxiety and questions of whether your baby is too hot or too cold, or comfortable enough, can keep any parent up. We all want what is best for our babies to get a good night's sleep, but with everything that must be considered such as household temperatures, sheets used, which pajamas put on, it is hard to pinpoint exactly what IS best for your baby.
Thankfully there is a way to solve the issues of baby’s warmth, through the knowledge of TOG. Interestingly TOG was invented to improve the safety of sleep sacks and swaddles for babies! So whether this is a term you have heard of or not, either way, let’s delve into what this term means.
TOG is short for Thermal Overall Grade. TOG is a unit of heat measurement on a scale of 0-3.5 which measures the thermal effectiveness of a fabric. The fabric is given a TOG rating based on the thickness of, and the type, of material. The higher the TOG rating, the warmer the fabric will be.
You may think, “this fabric looks cozy and feels warm,” but just touching the fabric will not always tell you how warm the fabric will be, and therefore if it is appropriate for your baby to wear.
What you need to know is its TOG rating! This will tell you if it is the right thing for your baby to wear at night. Consider the fabric, if it's a thick fabric, but breathable it will have a lower rating than a fabric that is thick and non-breathable. The TOG rating can be found on most tags or packaging so you should not have to search hard or do vigorous research to find out a sleep sack, or swaddle’s, TOG rating.
Now you have a base definition of what TOG is. But you also need to understand why it is important to pay attention to TOG ratings. You want your babies to be comfortable when they sleep. If they are comfortable they are more likely to sleep longer, so, by default, the parents with sleep longer. This is what you want, so how does understanding TOG get you there? Well if you understand what these ratings mean, you can know how to appropriately dress your baby to help them sleep.
One important point to consider when choosing the best attire for bedtime is knowing the ambient temperature of the room. Knowing this can help you better pick out the appropriate TOG rating for your baby’s sleep sack. Of course the weather outside can impact the temperature of your baby’s room so pay attention to that as well because that can change the temperature in their nursery and therefore what you put your baby in.
*Ideally your baby’s room should be kept between 68° and 72° F, which means you should look for a 0.4- 1.0 rated sleep bag.
A couple of examples can help further your understanding of what to put your baby in based on the ambient room temperature.
With both examples, you first use the ambient room temperature to determine the correct TOG rated sleep sack you should use, and then layer with the proper pajamas.
It is also important to remember though when dressing your baby for the night to always check for signs that your baby is too hot or too cold.
Overheating is very dangerous for anyone, but especially for a little baby. On a chilly night you might be tempted to pile on the layers of clothing on the baby, but you have to be careful otherwise your baby might get too hot. You know if a baby is too hot if:
*If your baby exhibits any of these signs they are too hot.
Keep in mind that you do not need to dress the baby in more than one extra layer than what we’d dress ourselves in for the night. So if you feel comfortable in shorts and a tank top, then your baby will probably be ok if they wear a short sleeve onesie with a sleep sack.
On the other hand, no one sleeps comfortably if they are too cold. If your baby’s neck, chest or tummy feel cold to the touch then they are likely too cold. Do not base your assessment of your baby’s warmth on the hands or feet as the extremities tend to feel colder than the rest of the body. In this instance, you will need to make sure your baby has on footed pajamas as well as a 2.5+ TOG rated sleep sack.
Since a baby cannot regulate its own temperature, it is your job as a parent to make sure they are comfortably clothed for bedtime. Using a sleep sack is a great way to keep your baby’s temperature regulated. They allow you to keep the baby’s temperature more consistent.
Sleep sacks also have other benefits:
Oilo has many adorable wearable blankets nursery designs to choose from. Our sleep sacks are made from a double layer of soft 100% Turkish cotton knit jersey.
This is a breathable, yet cozy, fabric giving these wearable blankets a TOG rating of 0.49. This is perfect for rooms with an ideal ambient temperature of 68° and 72° F.
In addition to its luxuriously soft and smooth material, Oilo’s wearable blankets are the perfect transition swaddle. They have a bottom with enough room to allow your baby to kick and move but still gives your baby the cuddly feeling of being swaddled. Our sleep sack allows your baby to move safely around while still staying covered and cozy all night.
These sleep sacks are perfect for babies from 6 months to 18 months, as its length goes up to a generous 33”! Which means this cozy sleep bag can stay with your baby as they grow.
These comfortable sleep sacks also make your life easier when that inevitable nighttime diaper change happens. The zipper starts at the bottom and goes all the way up, where there is a zipper cover to prevent scratching on your baby’s neck.

]]>Choosing a crisp white nursery recliner allows for decorating with a variety of other patterns within the nursery room itself. But, you might be worried, with a little one, how can you possibly keep a white recliner looking white? With these 6 tips, you can learn how to keep your white upholstery fabric chair looking fresh.
Here are 6 Easy Ways how to clean your white upholstery fabric chair:
Tip 1: Use a Spot Cleaner - Cleaning white upholstery using a spot cleaner is very simple. It is best to catch the stain when it is relatively fresh, but as a busy parent that may not always be feasible. Fear not, many stain removers are made to remove set in, difficult stains. First, you’ll use a clean cloth to gently remove the outer, surface level, stains. Then you’ll spray the stain remover solution on the stain and allow it to sit for approximately five minutes. Lastly, dab at the stain with a clean absorbent cloth. This should remove the stain, however if the stain remains stubborn, repeat the steps as necessary. Just because the chair is white, does not mean you should try to add bleach to remove a stain. This could ruin the fabric of your glider. Using a safe spot cleaner is a quick and easy option for how to clean white upholstery.
Tip 2: Vacuum - White chairs, along with all fabric and upholstery chairs, naturally collect dust and hairs that can become visible. Using a vacuum to clean your white upholstery is easy. Be sure to utilize the vacuum’s upholstery attachment. It is specifically made to gently, yet thoroughly remove crumbs or hairs from all over your glider. It is important to use a powerful vacuum with a thin nozzle to be able to get all of the debris out of the gliding mechanism too. A vacuum is a quick, easy way to keep your white upholstery fabric chair clean.
Tip 3: Use a Lint Remover Tool - A lint remover tool can pull up some of the dust and hair on your white nursery recliner, but also some types of fabrics pill, and it might show a little more on the white fabric. It’s not ideal, but there is a solution to handle it. A small battery operated fabric shaver tool, works perfectly to help maintain the pristine look of your white glider. Gently rub the shaver over the pilling areas on the back and armrests, and then go over it with a lint roller if needed, and watch it remove the little unwanted balls of fabric. Follow tool's instructions for use.
Tip 4: Use a Blanket - A nursery recliner will begin to look most used on the armrests where you rest your arms while holding your baby. A great way to keep these armrests looking as white as they were the day you bought them is by using blankets to cover the armrest. Any soft throw or perhaps a cute baby swaddle, will protect your chair and adds some color! The best part is, if the blanket gets spilled on you can remove it and wash it and your white chair will be spared.
Tip 5: Annual or Semi-Annual Professional Cleaning - When considering a professional clean for your glider, you can rent a steam cleaner and follow the instructions to clean your chair yourself, or hire a professional. Professional upholstery cleaning will kill germs and remove dust and grime leaving your recliner clean and fresh. With a professional you will feel more secure that the cleaning will be done right. Professional cleanings can be done every six months or yearly to keep your chair looking fabulous. A professional clean is a great way to keep your white upholstery looking brand new.
Tip 6: Performance Fabric - What is “performance fabric?” Performance fabric is a term used to describe fabric that is water resistant, easier to clean and is more durable. ]]>However, when night hits and baby is crying all night you might find yourself searching the internet to find out what you can do to help baby sleep. Luckily the answer is right in front of you.
Simply swaddling your baby can drastically improve baby’s sleep!
Swaddling is the practice of wrapping baby in a lightweight swaddle blanket to help them feel relaxed and sleepy. It is meant to mimic the feeling of snugness in the womb.
There are many reasons why the simple swaddling of your baby can help baby sleep and feel calm. Here are the Top 5 Reasons Why Using A Swaddle Blanket Will Help You and your baby get a good night’s sleep:
1. Using a swaddle blanket can protect against the startle reflex: when a newborn is startled by loud noises or a feeling of loss of support, baby will throw out their arms in reflex. If this happens while baby is sleeping it can wake baby and therefore you. The swaddle blanket will prevent little one’s arms from flinging out, helping baby stay asleep.
2. Swaddle blankets can help prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) by keeping things like ‘lovey” blankets, pillows or stuffed animals out of your baby’s crib. The swaddle blanket will keep your baby feeling calm and cozy so baby won’t need a stuffed animal or “lovey” blanket to keep them comforted. Plus, the swaddle blanket imitates your own warm touch so baby will be able to learn to self-soothe better than without the swaddle blanket.
3. Along with helping to prevent SIDS, a swaddle blanket can help keep baby safe by keeping them sleeping on their back. The National Institute of Health (NIH) says that by simply sleeping baby on their back significantly reduces the chance of SIDS. So keeping baby’s arms wrapped cozily inside their swaddle prevents them from easily rolling onto their stomach. This keeps them safely on their back.
4. Babies hands have an uncanny ability to find their way to their face or mouth. But when a newborn, baby does not have control of where their hands end up, often leading to their hands scratching their faces. Using a swaddle blanket will keep baby’s hands away from their face so they don’t scratch their face in the night and wake themselves up. This by default will help baby sleep better and longer.
5. Babies are unable to regulate their own temperature. In fact it is not until around two years old that a child can independently adjust to the varying temperature. So until then it is up to you to regulate baby’s temperature. A newborn relies on external factors, such as using swaddle blankets, to help keep them warm enough or cool enough. The best kind of swaddle blanket to use is a lightweight muslin blanket. A muslin swaddle blanket will keep baby at the right temperature - not too hot or too cold. This allows baby to have a comfortable and temperature regulated sleep.
Now that we have a few of the main reasons why you need swaddle blanket for your newborn, you’ll be curious about what are the Best Swaddle Blankets To Use. As mentioned above, the best kind of blanket to use to keep baby the most comfortable and cozy is a lightweight and breathable muslin swaddle blanket.
Oilo™ provides the perfect muslin blanket for your baby. Oilo’s swaddle blankets are made from the perfect breathable cotton ideal for swaddling, nursing, cuddling and more. Measuring 46"x46", these swaddle blankets can also grow with baby through the toddler years!

]]>Crib skirts are amazing for several reasons. The first being they are a safe way to cover up the exposed part of the crib at various heights. Unlike crib bumpers which pose a suffocation hazard for babies, crib skirts provide the same aesthetic appeal of a crib bumper, but won’t be anywhere near your baby’s face. Safe aesthetic appeal is not the only benefit of a crib skirt.
Crib skirts also can cover the space from the base of the crib to the floor. Perhaps you are hiding some extra baby supplies under the crib and don’t want those visible for all to see. The crib skirt drop can cover this while still allowing for storage underneath the crib. However in order to properly cover the space under your crib, you will need the proper crib skirt dimensions.
The standard crib skirt dimensions are approximately 28” wide, 52” in length with varied drop lengths from 12-17” (mattress to the floor). The crib skirt length varies depending on whether your crib is on the highest or lowest setting.
When considering what crib skirt to use, you will need to consider the crib skirt dimensions as well as the quality of material. Babies can be messy so you’ll want something sturdy that can be washed. Oilo’s crib skirts are made from a 100% woven cotton canvas which is as soft as it is strong. It is waterproof and machine washable making for easy clean up should the need arise.
For Girls: The perfect crib skirt for a girls nursery is one that not only blends with the crib sheets but also will tie the rest of the room together; something like this beautiful solid blush crib skirt. The solid light blush color goes perfectly with our more patterned material such as the Prim Floral or Butterfly collections.
For Boys: A darker crib skirt will go really well with a boy themed nursery. Animal themes like our Elephant collection or nature themes such as our Midnight Sky collection, are excellent for a boy nursery. They blend perfectly with the darker solid indigo crib skirt. The solid dark blue will make the colors of the animals or stars pop.
Gender Neutral: For a gender neutral nursery it’s always best to go with neutral colors such as our solid dove taupe crib skirt. We use this crib skirt in our gender neutral collections like the Llama and Cottontail collections which shine when paired with the solid neutral crib skirt. It will be the perfect piece to tie your gender neutral nursery together.
It’s hard to go wrong with one of Oilo’s crib skirts. They are soft, strong, and have a variety of colors to choose from to complete your nursery. Enjoy finding the perfect finishing touch to your baby’s nursery!
]]>You simply can’t go wrong with an adorable gender neutral animal print or nature theme in your little one’s nursery. One of the most visited places in your nursery will be the crib. Bedtime and naptime (and checking the baby monitor during those times!) take up a lot of your time as a parent. Not to mention when you enter your nursery, your eyes will fall automatically to your little one's crib, since that’s where you’ll likely be headed. With such emphasis on the crib, you want your gender neutral crib sheets to be something enjoyable to look at!
Consider gentle grays as the perfect gender neutral crib sheet, like this Misty Mountains crib sheet. Gray is the quintessential neutral color, but as these crib sheets show, that doesn't mean it's bland. The watercolor blurred mountains add a mystical element to baby’s room and a perfect atmosphere to send baby into dreamland.
Who doesn’t love the dreamy sight of a sky full of stars? Your bright little star will shine in a dazzling crib sheet of stars. The vivid colors of blues and golds in this Midnight Sky crib sheet are delicate yet versatile, making it the perfect gender neutral crib sheet.
Animal themes are also a perfect way to set up a gender neutral nursery. Like this fun Zebra gender neutral crib sheet, it can bring a playful atmosphere to your nursery. Black, white and stripes are as gender neutral as they come, but combined as a zebra design, makes neutral colors a happy place to put baby to sleep.
Warm colors in a crib sheet can create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for you and your baby. Like this Sandstone crib sheet, it can transport you and your little one to the red rocks of your favorite vacation spot. The muted colors can go with just about anything, making this crib sheet perfect for your gender neutral nursery.
Just like the neutral colors of a zebra pattern, a Llama crib sheet with gray, black and white, can provide the backdrop for any combination of color you might choose. Perhaps you can read one of the Llama Llama books to your little one before placing them onto their Llama themed gender neutral crib sheet.
So whether you want to join many celebrities in the ever more popular gender neutral nursery, or you simply cannot wait to start planning your baby’s nursery, find a color scheme, or theme that can work with your perfect gender neutral crib sheets, the foundation for any gender neutral nursery, it’s the perfect place to start. Enjoy soft and mystical nature themes or the fun and playful animal prints. Whatever you choose you can’t go wrong!
]]>While decorating the baby nursery is often a fun, creative endeavor, it can also be wrought with tricky decisions. You’ll find no shortage of beautiful nursery furnishings when gathering design inspiration (go ahead and glance at these gorgeous gender-neutral nurseries, these fun baby boy nursery ideas, or these stylish baby girl nursery ideas). But when it comes time to move from planning to purchasing, many soon-to-be-parents find themselves wondering: what nursery items should I splurge on?
The list of nursery items to buy for a new baby can be overwhelming. Of course, deciding where to save and where to splurge is ultimately an individual matter, but here are a few questions to ask yourself when deciding if that pricey bassinet is really worth it.
How often will it be used?
It makes sense to invest in nursery items that you’ll use the most. Spending a bit more on higher quality items means they’ll last longer even with frequent use. We always suggest splurging on the daily-use items you absolutely love, and go with the thrifty option for items that may not be used on a regular basis.
How much will quality affect day-to-day use?
More expensive doesn’t always mean your nursery items will be higher quality. Emily Glover, editor at Mother Mag explains, “When I had my first baby, I learned that all car seats have to pass the same strict safety standards. (Hooray!) I then took that to mean I could skimp on the infant seat we bought, only to realize that ‘just as safe’ doesn't necessarily mean ‘just as convenient.’ After spending too long dealing with difficult buckles each and every time we wanted to drive somewhere, I upgraded to a slightly more expensive, infinitely less frustrating car seat. As something I used multiple times a day for a full year, this was well worth the investment.”
What’s the lifespan of the item?
Some nursery items — like clothes, bassinets, car seats, etc. —need to be replaced or refreshed frequently to keep up with your rapidly-growing little one. Other nursery items, however, can be repurposed and used for years after your baby’s grown. Gliders are a great example: many well-designed gliders or rockers can be moved to your living room or bedroom and function as a comfy accent chair. For these kinds of items, spending more upfront on better quality can help ensure that it's a one-time only purchase.
Splurge-Worth Essentials
We’ve narrowed our top three nursery items that are worth spending a little extra on.
1. A Great Glider
2. A Quality Crib
A crib is another long-term purchase and we think it’s well worth investing in a quality one. We’d suggest choosing a crib that’s made from clean, quality material so it’s both safe and durable. If longevity is your goal, many moms like cribs that can be transformed into a day bed or toddler bed as your baby grows.
3. Cozy Cotton Bedding
Quality bedding is another non-negotiable nursery splurge. You’ll want a sheet that’s safe, cozy and durable so it can outlast infinite stains and washes. As for what type of fabric, experts recommend cotton or organic cotton. Designed for high couture and maximum comfort, Oilo’s fitted crib sheets are as soft as they are stylish. All sheets are 300-thread count, 100% cotton jersey, fully machine washable and designed to the highest standards of quality.
These three items are worth the splurge, and you will enjoy them for years to come!
]]>When it comes to packing for the hospital, there are unlimited checklists for moms. But what about their partners?
They often log long hours at the hospital as well, so it’s important they’ve got everything they need for a comfortable stay. And a little prep ahead of time makes it that much easier to focus on what really matters during delivery: supporting the mom-to-be.
First and foremost, pack your hospital bag for dad well before the due date. Six weeks should do the trick! Below we’ve outlined a quick and easy checklist to help you get all set for the big day.
Hospital Bag Checklist for Dad
1. The Right Bag
When selecting a bag, any overnight bag you have on hand should work: large backpack, small duffle bag, work bag, etc. Aim for something that’s durable, has lots of pockets and is big enough to hold a pillow and change of clothes.
2. Wallet
This one goes without saying, but a friendly reminder never hurts. Make sure you bring your wallet, along with your ID and insurance papers. Having a little cash is also a good idea for parking meters, vending machines in the hospital and emergencies.
3. Phone Charger
Make sure your phones are charged and pack your chargers. Don’t forget to check that your camera roll has space for all the photos you’ll inevitably take, too!
4. Ipad, E-Reader or Book
Make sure you’ve got something to do to pass hours in case labor goes longer than anticipated. We recommend downloading any books, music, movies and TV shows ahead of time in case streaming doesn’t work at the hospital.
5. Speaker and Headphones
Bringing your own speaker (don’t forget to charge it ahead of time!) and music is a great way to create a more comforting atmosphere in the delivery room. Some parents like making a playlist of their favorite songs or calming music. If you’ve got your own headphones, it’s helpful to pack those in case there’s downtime.
6. Pillow and Blanket
Depending on the hospital, you may be spending the night on a stiff couch or less-than-ideal fold-out cot. Bringing your own comfy pillow and blanket from home can make all the difference in getting a good night’s rest.
7. Clothes and Toiletries
Just like mom-to-be, you should plan to bring a change of clothes, pajamas and toiletries. Unlike mom, who will be spending most of the time feeding and snuggling with the new baby, you might actually be going out in public (and grabbing your partner some takeout, perhaps?), so keep that in mind when packing.
As long as you’ve got a mix of comfortable and functional outfit choices, you’ll be all set. Make sure to bring a cozy hoodie or jacket and warm socks in case your room gets cold at night. And be sure to wear comfy shoes, since you’ll be the one out running errands.
8. Snacks
Whether or not the hospital provides food for partners, it’s always a good idea to bring your own. Pack some of your favorite easy, healthy snacks in case the hospital food doesn’t hit the spot or hunger strikes when the kitchen is closed. Nuts and protein bars are a good option since they’re filling and easy to pack, and a few sweet treats are always a fun addition. Don’t forget to bring your own water bottle, too!
9. Extra bags
Having a few extra bags on hand (think canvas totes or even plastic grocery bags) is always a good idea. They can come in handy for all sorts of things like dirty clothes, snacks wrappers, etc.
10. Gift for Mom
Bring a gift for the new mom! A little something like a soft baby blanket she can wrap her new baby in, or get her a comfortable nursery glider she can relax in and enjoy the moments with her new precious little one. A gift can go a long way in helping her feel loved and taken care of. Which is exactly what partners are there for after all.
* Bonus: Gift for Baby
Bonus points if you bring your sweet little newborn a special gift they will always cherish, like a cotton muslin swaddle blanket that can grow with them from infant to toddler, or a soft infant onesie you can dress them in to take them home from the hospital.
No matter how much prep you do, delivery rarely goes according to plan. But as long as you’ve followed the hospital bag checklist for dad and packed your bag about six weeks prior, you should be prepared for almost anything labor throws your way. And besides, prepping now means you can be fully present when your little one arrives.

Today we’re addressing the age-old nursery question: How many crib sheets do I actually need? You’ve probably already guessed, but the answer widely varies. (Que exasperated sigh.) If this is your first baby, you can likely get away with just a few sheets. Many moms find that having one sheet to keep on the mattress while the other is in the wash is perfectly sufficient. But as your family grows, so will your nursery requirements. To make an accurate estimate, we find it helpful to evaluate your family’s current lifestyle and needs as well as your future plans. Here are some factors to take into consideration when deciding how many crib sheets to buy.
Consider your lifestyle and needs.
How many kids do you have now? How many do you plan on having in the future?
Like we mentioned above, if this is your first baby two sheets can be totally doable! But this doesn’t leave much room for error if you miss a day washing. Especially if you have more kids or plan on having more babies, laundry likely won’t happen as reliably. With additional kids and the accompanying mountains of laundry, linens may not be washed more than once a week and sometimes even less than that. So the necessary solution is to have more crib sheets clean and ready for use in the closet.
How often will you wash and change your crib sheets?
You’ll want to wash your little one’s crib sheets just as you regularly change out your own bedsheets (about once per week). This standard routine is made more complicated since babies tend to drool, spit-up, sweat and have diaper leaks in their beds frequently. When this happens, you’ll need an extra crib sheet available for a quick change to keep your baby’s crib clean. That said, you’ll likely end up changing your baby’s crib sheets much more than the standard once-a-week wash.
It’s so important to check your baby’s crib and sheets regularly for any overlooked spots that might be soiled, and keep the crib clean and comfortable for you little one. The last thing you want is for your baby to be sleeping on a sheet that’s dirty or wet. Sleeping in unsanitary conditions can result in your baby getting ill, so it’s all the more important to make sure that your baby’s sheets are checked, changed and cleaned routinely. If you want to place fresh sheets in your baby’s crib once a week, plan for two or three crib sheets. But if you plan on changing your crib sheets out more frequently, we recommend having about five to seven crib sheets.
Do you have an in-house washer and dryer?
Your in-house laundry set-up is another hugely important factor to consider. If you have a washer and dryer in your home, you’ll have more time to throw your sheets in the wash as needed and you might not need more than a couple. But if you rely on the laundromat, you'll definitely need additional sheets to get through a week.
Do you swaddle your baby?
To swaddle or not is a complicated conversation for another post, but today we’re talking about swaddling in regards to crib sheets. If you do choose to swaddle, sheets remain cleaner for a longer period of time. With swaddling, your baby stays in a single position and the additional layer of fabric decreases the drool, spit-up and other wetness that dirties crib sheets. In this case, you may only need a few sheets since they’ll be changed just once a week or so.
Does your baby have sensitive skin?
As you know, a baby's skin can be extremely sensitive — some more than others. If that’s the case for your little one, you’ll want to make sure that the crib sheets are changed more frequently than average. In instances of sensitive skin, washing sheets often helps your baby sleep comfortably and prevents potential rashes from developing. You’ll want to stock up on a few more sheets for the added laundry cycles.
All this nitty gritty to say that the number of sheets you need depends on your lifestyle, but generally we recommend a minimum of two crib sheets and a maximum of seven. There’s no need to over-buy sheets, but you do want to make sure you’re happily prepared for whatever comes your way.
At Oilo, we believe beautiful nurseries make all the difference. There’s so much that goes into choosing the right crib sheet, but we think the secret is to choose sheets that are high quality, beautifully designed and spark joy. So go ahead and explore our most popular crib sheets. We’re positive you’ll find one (or two, or five) that bring a much needed smile to your face through all your nap-times and bedtimes to come.

Llama

We’re not afraid to admit that as much as we love our babies, we don’t enjoy changing their diapers. But a cute changing pad cover can really brighten up the process. Here’s to adding a bit of joy to diaper duty!

]]>When making design decisions for your nursery, consider just how much time you’ll spend near the crib: we’re talking bedtime, naptime, middle-of-the-night time, changing-time and much more. Which is why it’s all the more important to choose a design that you really love. In fact, we suggest you get at least two, so you’ll have another on hand in case of unexpected messes.
There’s a lot to consider when choosing a crib sheet , but the most important factor should always be safety. “What we would look for in a crib sheet is something that fits the mattress snugly that won’t detach. We worry about the sheet detaching and becoming a suffocation risk,” says Dr. Benjamin D. Hoffman, the chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Committee on Injury, Violence and Poison Prevention. “The right image of a baby sleeping is a baby on a flat firm mattress on their back with nothing else.”
Quality is another important consideration. You’ll want a sheet that’s comfy and cozy for your baby, and will hold up after infinite stains and washes. As for what type of fabric, “Cotton or organic cotton, that’s absolutely your choice,” says Hoffman.
Designed for high couture and maximum comfort, Oilo’s fitted crib sheets are as soft as they are stylish. All sheets are 300-thread count, 100% cotton jersey, fully machine washable and designed to the highest standards of quality—everything you've come to expect from Oilo. So go ahead and take a look below at our most popular sheet styles! We’re positive you’ll find one you adore.
For Girls
Floral is a crowd favorite for little girl nurseries. Whether you gravitate towards our light and lovely Bella floral or the artful Prim print, you really can’t go wrong. The airy Bella floral adds a sense of graceful beauty to any nursery with its soft lavender shades, touches of blush and gentle blossoms.
To bring some romance and warmth to your nursery, we’d suggest going with crib sheets in the Prim floral print. This ever-popular pattern is perfect for creating a space that’s both classic and calming.
For Boys
The most-loved crib sheet for boy nurseries is by far our elephant print. This adorable design is a thoughtful balance of playful and tasteful. Featuring splashes of watercolor in deep, dreamy indigo, it’s designed for summoning slumber.
Gender Neutral
Gender-neutral nurseries just make sense for so many reasons, and we’ve got the perfect crib sheets if you opt for this design direction. The most popular is the llama print, and it’s not hard to see why: The soft neutral grays pair effortlessly with any color scheme you want, or provide a refined neutral color base on their own. Plus, the llamas bring a subtle sense of childhood imagination and whimsy. These crib sheets are the perfect finishing touch for a more minimal, Scandinavian-inspired nursery. If you love the llama print, don’t forget to snag our softest, plush llama cuddle blanket as well.
One last important thing to note is that all Oilo crib sheets are designed for standard-size cribs, so if you have a mini crib or bassinet you’ll need to buy sheets specially made for them. With so many dreamy styles, it’s impossible to pick a favorite. Which Oilo crib sheets do you gravitate towards? Let us know in the comments.
Five easy steps to clean gliders and recliners
Let it dry naturally and voila!
These instructions are for a woven fabric specifically, so other recliners and gliders may require slightly different cleaning techniques depending on the material. Leather, for example, is extra-easy to clean. Just pick up chunks with a paper towel and wipe the rest clean with a wet rag.
Clean velvet the same way you would leather.
Formula and breast milk stains are notoriously tricky to get out. Both have a higher protein content than regular milk which makes the stains more visible and difficult to remove, particularly after they’ve set. With any fabric, the best way to remove stains is to treat them early. If cold water and a rag doesn’t do the trick then standard stain remover or hydrogen peroxide should work for most stains, breast milk and formula included.
A word on preventing stains
The best way to keep your glider in mint condition is to avoid stains to begin with. Obviously that’s much easier said than done, but we’ve got a few tips to make it more doable.
If you’re still deciding on a glider, feel free to order a fabric swatch to test stain removal before you purchase. We know you’ll love the results. Best of luck in all your stain removing endeavors!
1. Sophisticated Slate
Nurseries are as much for the parents as for the baby, so why not make it a space that truly inspires? Paired with our Misty Mountain nursery collection, add a touch of sophistication with slate-colored paint. Sure, charcoal is unconventional for a nursery, but it’s unparalleled in the way it effortlessly elevates a space. If you go gray, opt for lighter rugs and furniture to keep things balanced.
2. Feeling Blue
Obviously blue isn’t just for boys, but it’s a tried-and-true classic when it comes to decorating nurseries. We like a more refined approach and went with grays and navy as accent colors in the nursery above. Our Elephant Nursery Collection is one of our most popular collections and it’s easy to see why! The watercolor-inspired pattern pairs perfectly with our Nola glider in woven navy, our fave fabric for hiding all those inevitable spills and stains. We used natural textures like the driftwood table, antler floor lamp and birch crib to complete the vibe.
Above, Rach Parcell of Pink Peonies shows us another great way to incorporate blue hues. She keeps her nursery fresh and modern with unexpected fabrics and texture, like our Oilo Nursery Glider in the loveliest velvet indigo paired with a luxe leather ottoman.
3. Outdoor Inspiration
Foster big dreams and playful outdoors imagination by incorporating this zebra themed nursery bedding into your baby boy’s nursery. We paired our Flynn Recliner swivel nursery glider in chenille fog gray fabric, with our Zebra Collection nursery bedding. Accented with a wood wall and a outdoor landscape painting, these classy accent pieces will grow with your little one and last for years to come.
4. Cozy Woodland
When you think of woodland-themed decor, you might think feminine florals and cutesy bunnies. While those features are adorable in almost any context, we’re drawn to woodland touches paired with dark walls for a more masculine approach. Our Cottontail Bunny Rabbit Nursery Collection is just begging to be styled in a room with deep grays, greens and teals. We love the natural and forest-inspired touches throughout the nursery above: woven jute rug, soft birch crib and oversized wood frames.
5. All Natural
And lastly, any nursery roundup wouldn’t be complete without a nod to ever-popular Scandinavian decor. This approach is both boho and playful, taking cues from trendy minimalist nurseries. We love a nursery that embraces exclusively neutral tones but utilizes unexpected textures to keep it from becoming boring. To recreate this look in your own nursery, we’d suggest pairing this llama Collection nursery bedding with lots of cozy throws and textured pillows for a cute and comfy space. The best part of this nursery is its versatility! It’s perfect for a baby boy and can easily grow with him or be adapted later for a girl.
Bonus:
Here's a fantastic take on a space-inspired nursery from Jade Roper Tolbert designed by @kathykuohome and @realmdesignco. Between the indigo accent wall, bright white Oilo glider and playful moon illustrations, this is a space made for dreaming.
These are just a few of our favorite ways to decorate for baby boys, but the possibilities are endless. We hope you found some inspiration today and can’t wait to see how you run with it. Be sure to tag us @oilostudio so we can see your dreamy nurseries!

At Oilo, we believe in creating spaces that aren’t cliche, childish or over-the-top. After all, the nursery is as much for you as it is your newborn! With all the time you’ll spend in the nursery, we’re here to help you make it a comfy, cozy space that you absolutely love. So allow the following stylish nursery ideas, examples and tips to ease and guide your own decorating process.
POLISHED PINK
We’ll start with the most popular baby girl nursery theme: pink. It’s a go-to for good reason and stands the test of time. Pink in a nursery is warm, inviting and perfectly girly. We like to opt for a softer shade of blush when decorating nurseries so it’s not too overwhelming. Plus, it creates a calming atmosphere and promotes sweet dreams. In the nursery above, we used the Glider in blush and paired it with simple, white furniture. Et voila! You’ve got a nursery that’s easy, beautiful and classic.
If you love florals as much as we do, take cues from nature and embrace bold prints. We love the way bright, bold florals, like the wallpaper featured above, keep a room feeling modern. Especially when paired with soft pink walls and bedding, it’s an easy way to keep the nursery from becoming overly soft or sweet.
Florals pair perfectly with natural texture, so we opted for a super-soft faux fur rug and ottoman in this nursery. Playing with pattern and texture helps create a cozy, chic space. If you embrace large florals and fur, keep the rest of the decor simple and neutral, so the room still feels like a relaxed retreat. The glider in bright white ties this space together.
If you want to give your nursery an elevated feel, we’d suggest touches of brass. Bright metal and soft pink might seem like an unlikely combo but we think of them as a yin and yang: balancing each other for a sophisticated, put-together space. Soft bedding in a lovely watercolor print adds to the elegant design without sacrificing any comfort for your little one. There are so many fun options out there that can take a room from ordinary to exciting and inspiring.
If all-over pink isn’t your style, gray is an excellent alternate. There’s a reason that gray is so popular in home decor. It’s the perfect modern neutral. Pair it with cool colors to highlight blue tones, or with warm hues to highlight yellow tones. Gray matches pretty much everything. Adding in a soft neutral with splashes of pink creates an effortlessly calming sanctuary where you’ll cuddle your little one for hours.
Jillian Harris captures a sense of childhood whimsy and wonder in the dreamy nursery featured above. Perfect for little girls with big imaginations, we can’t get over how easily this space inspires a sense of joy and play. Harris uses an adorable air balloon print (find something similar here), sky-inspired wallpaper in baby blue and pulls it all together with a playful chandelier. A soft white gilder styled with a cloud pillow is a must for a space like this.
There you have it! Five simple ideas for your little girl’s nursery. Whichever design direction you decide to take, we know it will be absolutely lovely. Be sure to tag us @oilostudio so we can see your stylish spaces!
Gliders and rocking chairs are a longtime nursery essential. Useful primarily for soothing fussy babies and promoting sleep, they’re also wonderful for cuddling, feeding and eventually reading with your little one. Once you’ve selected the perfect crib, you’ve likely got your eyes on nursery gliders next. But where to start?
Do you need a glider?
The short answer: yes.
You’ll spend quite a bit of time rocking your baby, so it’s important to choose a glider that’s comfortable, functional and beautiful. Plus, the perfect glider can help make the most of the seemingly endless hours you’ll spend in the nursery. The right glider will help soothe your baby faster so you can enjoy those intimate moments and make lasting memories. If you make it a priority to find a glider that’s a good fit for you, it can be an investment piece you’ll keep for many years. All the more reason to get one you absolutely love! Luckily there are so many options to choose from.
Rocker vs. glider?
When you picture rocking your baby, you might imagine a classic rocking chair. In the past, rocking chairs were the go-to option despite being wooden, hard and uncomfortable. Most parents these days opt for a glider instead since they’re comfier and have a smooth rocking motion. Gliders slide back and forth effortlessly on a fixed track and they’re usually loaded with padding for maximum comfort. They can be pricey, but are certainly worth the investment.
What to look for?
Comfort
Since you’ll spend so much time in your glider, comfort should be a top priority. We’d suggest choosing one that’s firm enough to be supportive, but plush enough to feel soft and cozy during inevitable late nights. You’ll want to find a glider that’s easy to get in and out of. We love the convenience of gliders that offer a swivel and recline feature. Other helpful extras to look out for include padded armrests, headrests and coordinating ottomans. Did we mention Oilo gliders include all of the above?
Quality
We think of gliders as an investment piece made to last for years to come. Be sure to find one that’s high quality and designed to weather years of use and wear. At Oilo, our gliders are crafted from USA-grown wood by Amish craftsman. For obvious reasons, stain resistance is a non-negotiable.
Emily Maynard, Former ABC Bachelorette, knows just how important an easy-to-clean glider is. “My favorite piece in the nursery has to be the Oilo glider,” she says. “You may think I’m crazy for having a white chair anywhere in my house with two boys and a house full of animals, but since it’s leather it’s totally wipeable. Not to mention, it’s super comfortable for all of the middle of the night feedings!” A quality glider is worth paying for, and you’ll be especially glad you invested during those 3am feedings.
Style
We believe that nursery furniture should be stylish and fit in effortlessly with the rest of your home. Our gliders are the perfect balance: padded for comfort with sleek, modern design that’s not too bulky. They come in a variety of carefully curated colors and high-quality fabrics so they look lovely in the nursery, and will work perfectly in a living area. A beautiful glider can make the time you spend rocking your baby cozy and joy-filled for years to come.

Style
Opting for a high-quality sheet is always a good idea. It increases longevity and helps your baby sleep more comfortably. We’d recommend cotton sheets since they’re durable, breathable, natural and comfy. A snug cotton is soft and cozy for your baby, and balances comfort and safety. Oilo’s fitted sheets are 300-thread count cotton and oh-so-soft. Plus, they’re machine-washable which any parent knows is an absolute must. At Oilo, we believe nursery items should be as stylish as they are practical, so go ahead take a look at all the lovely options we have to offer.

Whether you want the sex of your baby to be a surprise, don’t want to impose gender norms, or just want a beautiful space in your home, this direction allows you a little more freedom of design than a traditional nursery. Moving away from standard color palettes, you can focus simply on great design. After all, it’s the parents that really need to enjoy the space Here are a few of our best ideas for making your gender neutral nursery dreams come true.
1) Neutral Wall Color
Neutral tones tend to get a bad rap. But there are so many stylish ways to take neutral tones from bland to bold! For a sanctuary that’s simple and serene, gray is a great place to start. Its warm versatility makes gray a go-to when it comes to gender neutral nursery ideas. In this nursery, we used soft grays for just about every piece.
Deep, dark hues colors definitely aren’t traditional when it comes to nurseries, but they’re a fantastic way to bring a sophisticated, gender neutral feel to your room. Much like light gray, dark gray serves as a beautiful backdrop if you want something more modern than tried-and-true neutrals. As you can see in this lovely nursery, the dark gray wall allows the framed bunny art from our Cottontail Nursery Bedding Collection to really pop.
Another take on deep wall colors is to go with the Charming Chocolate Brown Nursery Ideas detailed on our blog. On a cold winter's day nothing quite speaks of comfort than a warm cup of hot chocolate, cozied up on a nice soft chair with a book and blanket. What if you could have that same feeling of comfort and warmth year round for you and your baby? With a dark brown themed nursery those calming vibes can always be felt.
2) Nature Inspired Themes
Get creative by playing with textures and features found in nature. These gender neutral nursery ideas use fresh greenery, woven baskets, driftwood decor, etc. All are fantastic ways to take a note from nature and introduce your little one to the great outdoors. We love the decorative branches in the nursery below, and the way the feather-print bedding provides a subtle nod to nature.
Get even more into nature inspired nursery ideas with our Misty Mountain Nursery Bedding Collection. Between the dark gray wall, and the soft mountain scene painted in a watercolor style, this nursery design can help create a soft, nurturing environment for your newborn.
3) Animal Accents
For those who like a little whimsy, furry friends can create a nursery that’s playful and cute. These gender neutral nursery ideas keep the nursery tasteful, as we opt for animal prints as secondary pieces to highlight the neutral nursery theme. Some of our favorite animal print pieces come from our light and lovely woodland animals in our Fawn Nursery Bedding Collection.
These Highlander Green Nursery ideas detailed on our blog, give us neutral vibes while pairing with our adorable bunnies. The soft, fluffy and friendly bunny rabbits add a touch of imaginative whimsy to your baby's nursery!
This Elephant Nursery Bedding Collection, in sophisticated gray and blue, add an artful element without feeling overly gendered. Every gender loves a sweet playful elephant.
Scandinavian Style Nursery Sanctuary
It’s hard to beat the simple elegance of a Scandinavian interior design. Take note from the Nords and create a nursery that values both from and function, practicality and beauty. White walls and open spaces are a hallmark of Scandinavian style, which tends to put greater emphasis on more subtle design elements, like shape and texture. Keep the furniture mostly neutral and opt for soft woods and light-colored fabrics. The goal is a space that’s calm and clean, as seen in our Llama Nursery Bedding Collection.
At Oilo, we're all about turning your nursery into the most comfortable, clean and carefree sanctuary in your home. Because a more enjoyable nursery means a more constant and enduring bond between you and your baby. We're strong advocates of not compromising on style with all things baby-related and it's only natural for us to gravitate towards a nursery that functions as an extension of the rest of your living space, rather than clashing with it. We can’t wait to see all the creative ways you style your own gender neutral nurseries!
