THE PANTONE COLOR OF THE YEAR: HOW TO USE IT IN YOUR HOME

If you’re not familiar, in a nutshell, Pantone is considered by many to be the leading color expert in the world. And every year, the company releases a color that is reflective of the culture and mood the world is currently in.

This year, for the first time, Pantone got a little crazy and announced a combination of two colors as the 2016 Color of the Year: Rose Quartz (warm soft pink) and Serenity (a cool blue).

I love the psychology behind color, so this kind of stuff is pretty fascinating to me!  So if you’re curious about the reasoning behind the colors chosen this year, you can read more here

But if you just want to see some pretty pictures, read on!

We’ll look at Serenity another day, but for today I wanted to share some simple ideas for incorporating the Rose Quartz color into your home. I love this fresh, calming color!

PAINT A DOOR

You could paint your front door a rose colored hue, but don’t be afraid to think beyond that. Painting interior doors in a different color, beside the standard white, is such a perfect way to give your home a fresh look.

PAIR IT WITH LOTS OF BLACK ACCENTS

Pink hues look incredible paired with black. Black frames, black side tables and black accented throw pillows are perfect contrasts to the neutrality of the pink, and really help ground the room.

REUPHOLSTER A CHAIR

Do you have a chair that is in need of an update? Choose a patterned fabric in this rosy shade to give instant personality to a space.

PAINT HALF A WALL

I do love a white, light, house—but a few (perfectly shaded) pink walls, have always been just the right amount of color. If the idea of painting a whole room pink seems like too much, try covering the lower half of the wall in shiplap or beadboard, and just painting the upper half.
